Programs and Services
VON Durham Site Home and Community Services (VON Durham) provides Hospice Palliative Care Services. We provide emotional, social, and spiritual support to individuals and families facing life-limiting diagnoses, advanced illness, death, and bereavement. Our staff and trained volunteers work in partnership with community health care professionals and other service providers in an effort to enhance the quality of client care. Our staff and volunteers are also available to provide anticipatory grief and bereavement support to family members and friends, as well as advance care planning support.
Our volunteers are rigorously screened and trained to assist palliative clients at home, in hospital, or Long-Term Care. Each volunteer is matched with the same client for up to one 4-hour shift per week, and can assist with a variety of care needs. VON Durham Site Home and Community Services may be able to increase the number of volunteers providing support, depending on volunteer availability and a client’s need.
When you experience a loss, you may be faced with a difficult journey. You may feel loss, pain, fear, exhaustion, or loneliness, but you do not need to grieve alone. VON Durham can support you in accessing the service(s) best suited to your needs, including: a one-to-one volunteer match, a support group, or referral to outside resources.
